AKC recognizes three sizes of Poodles

The Standard Poodle: over 15 inches at the shoulder — most are in the 22-27″ range
The Miniature Poodle: over 10 inches and not over 15 inches at the shoulder – most are in the 13-15″ range
The Toy Poodle: 10 inches and under at the shoulder
The original Poodles were water dogs used for retrieving. To this day, their conformation and the texture and pattern of their coats reflect the purposes for which they were bred. Miniatures and Toys have been bred down from the larger Poodles and they exhibit the same general characteristics. The Poodle is an active, intelligent, ruggedly-built dog which is at the same time elegant and refined. Well-bred Poodles in all three varieties have steady, calm nerves, hardy constitutions and they can be easily trained. A Poodle is a "person" and he expects to be treated as one. Each one is a character and for that reason they make wonderful companions.

Moyen/Klein size Poodle: 14-18 inches 20 - 30 lbs

Moyen means medium.The Moyen Poodle is the 4th size of the Poodle breed and is not as small as the Miniature Poodle, and is not as tall as the Standard Poodle There is a huge gap between the Miniature and Standard Poodle when it comes to sizes. And the Klein/ Moyen Poodle fills in that gap. If you put a Moyen and a Standard Poodle next to each other, the only main difference you'll find is their size. Standard poodles are generally 25-30 inches tall. Moyens 14-18 inches tall. This size poodle is highly daughter after by Doodle breeders because they can naturally breed a moyen sized poodle to their Standard sized Doodle which will downsize the doodle offspring to a medium or sometimes mini size. This size of doodle is highly sought afterby many families who are looking for a Doodle Hybrid
